This past week, the nation rallied around BatKid and created a beautiful, once-in-a-lifetime experience that celebrated imagination and wonder. Although moved by the events in San Francisco, I couldn’t help but ask: why do we wait until a child has been ill before we encourage fantasy to this extreme.
A few days before BatKid saved Gotham, I ran into a post by Refe Tuma. His family celebrates Dinovember, a month dedicated to his children and developing their creativity. He encouraged participants, and Steffen and I began plotting our dinosaurs’ night-time antics .
I suspect they were building some kind of fort. With a tape measure, screw driver, wrench and glue, not sure what else it could be.
